Los Angeles Unpaid Wage Attorney

California law requires employers to pay employees at least the minimum wage for all hours worked.  California law also requires employers to list all the hours each employee worked on his or her pay stub and rate of pay so employees will know how much they earned for each hour worked.  Employees sometimes mistakenly believe that if they receive a salary (i.e. a set amount of money every month or week) that the salary is all the money the employer has to pay the employee no matter how many hours the employee.  However, almost all employees in California must be paid at least the minimum wage (or any higher wage the employer has agreed to pay) for each hour worked.  Failing to pay employees for their work is called wage theft.  Employers also steal wages from employees in other ways by:

  • Making employees work off the clock (e.g. not paying employees for time spent cleaning up after work)
  • Rounding employee time punches to always favor the employer (e.g. requiring employees to work a full 15 minutes to get paid for the whole 15 minutes)
  • Not paying employees for time they have to be at work but aren't working

If you are not being paid at least the minimum wage for all hours you work, the Law Offices of G. Samuel Cleaver can help.  Please feel out the contact form at this website or call 323-648-6676.
