Los Angeles Federal Government Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation

Federal employees are protected from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by federal statutory and constitutional law.  The Law Offices of G. Samuel Cleaver counsels and advocates for federal employees at all phases of the federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EO) process.  If you are a federal employee considering making a complaint, it is wise to consult legal counsel beforehand.  Federal employees must use the internal EO process at their respective agencies.  The deadlines to file an informal complaint with the appropriate EO counselor are short and claims can be lost forever if not made at this stage.

Legal counsel can also be extremely helpful when preparing a formal complaint and participating in the agency investigation.  The scope of the formal complaint is even more important than the informal complaint.  The agency investigation has many traps for unprepared employees.   Most agency investigators require witnesses, including the complaining employee, to sign sworn statements.  An incorrect or poorly worded statement can harm or even sink one or more of an employee’s claims.  Nevertheless, mistakes made early in the EO process can often be overcome or corrected by experienced legal counsel.

Once the formal investigation ends and litigation begins, the employee needs a reasoned and aggressive advocate to force the agency and its witnesses to divulge the key information necessary for the employee to prevail before an Administrative Law Judge or in Federal District Court.

The Law Offices of G. Samuel Cleaver represents federal government employees at all stages of the federal government’s internal EO process and in any subsequent litigation.  If you think you may have been the victim of unlawful discrimination, harassment or retaliation, please contact the Law Offices of G.
